Editorial policy

The rules every guide on this site is written under, published so readers can hold the desk to them.

Scope rules

No diagnosis content: this site publishes no symptom checklists, screening quizzes or "does your child have" content of any kind. No treatment content: no guidance on medication, supplements, diets or therapies; the only treatment-adjacent pages here help parents prepare questions for the professionals involved with their child. No cure, fix or outcome claims, and no promises about behaviour change. Content is educational and organisational only.

Sources

Facts come from primary and authoritative sources: health services such as the NHS and CDC, education authorities such as the US Department of Education and GOV.UK, and established parent organisations such as CHADD and the AAP's parent site. Every guide lists its sources and the date they were checked. Statistics are never invented; a number appears only as a dated fact from a named source, or inside a family example that is plainly an illustration.

Voice

Knowledgeable, not expert, and never clinical. The desk writes as an informed fellow parent-support editor, not as a practitioner; there are no clinical first-person claims here. The tone is safeguarding-aware and shame-free: children and parents are never blamed for the shape of a hard day, and routines, not people, are what get redesigned.

School content

School-rights and school-process content is jurisdiction-split and labelled: US guides cover Section 504 and IEPs, UK guides cover SEND support and EHC plans, and both stay at explainer level. Nothing here is advice about an individual case.

Corrections

Errors, stale facts and tone failures are corrected on the page and recorded on the corrections page, with the date and what changed.
